How do I find the church?
Directions by car can be found by selecting the “Get Directions” box on the left of this page.
If you are travelling by bus, take a number 19 and ask to get off at quarry road, from there the church is about 10 minutes walk.
How long will the service last?
At the end of the service we serve tea, coffee & biscuits in our fellowship hall for those who wish to stay. This would be a great opportunity for you to get to know us better and we’d love to have you join us.
Is there plenty of parking?
Disabled spaces are available.
What time do I need to arrive?
To allow yourself time to find your way and get settled we would recommend you arrive between 10 & 15 minutes before the service starts.
What happens when I arrive?
When you arrive you will be welcomed by one of our members.
The layout of the church makes it easy to get around and there are always plenty of people who will be happy to help you find your way. Don’t be afraid to ask; it’s a great way to meet people.
There are no reserved seats so feel free to sit wherever you feel most comfortable.
What are the services like?
Our band leads us in a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs of worship. We also worship through teaching, intercessory prayer and giving.
Each month we hold a communion service where we break bread together to celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Do I need to bring any money?
During the service we take up an offering from our regular congregation towards the ongoing work of the church and our support of mission and Christian compassion.
Please do not feel obliged to contribute if you are visiting. However, if you do decide to give to the work of Hillview and are a UK tax payer, we can reclaim the tax you have paid on your gift, enabling it to go even further. All you need to do is to fill in and sign the Gift Aid declaration on a gift envelope and place your gift inside.
What should I wear?
You will see adults and children wearing everything from jeans & t-shirts to suits & ties so please don’t feel you need to “dress up”; just come as you are.
Will there be something for my children?
Children are very well catered for at Hillview including children’s talks most weeks in the main service and a comprehensive and lively children’s church programme taking place during the second half of the morning service.
Once a quarter, we hold all-age services to allow our families to worship together.
Crèche facilities are available for babies and toddlers with helpers available to allow parents to worship.
What is there for my teenagers?
Ascend begins with an opportunity to chat and play basketball, football etc in our sports hall. This is then followed by a short talk on a topic relevant to young people. Our youth leaders will then lead small group discussions based on that topic.
In addition to Ascend there are other youth activities which may be of interest, you can find more information on our ministries pages.
How can I become a member?
A person may be received into membership by baptism, by an officially written transfer of membership from another Christian church, or by an affirmation of faith.
Anyone who wishes to maintain his/her affiliation with another denomination or church, but agrees with the church statement of faith, and wants to fellowship and serve at Hillview while living here in Aberdeen, is welcome to join the church as an associate member.
